Royal Arsenal 14 Woolwich Arsenal 11
The final match of the early spring league for the Arsenal clubs was a hotly contested rematch of the midseason clash that finished in a hard-fought draw.
This time around the fixture would decide who walked away from the league with the wooden spoon, and who would surge up the league table to the lofty heights of seventh.
Right from the off it was clear the game was going to be a try-fest with both sides ripping defenses apart with their attacking moves and scoring a flurry of tries.
Kyle Graham, in particular, had a storming first half for Royal Arsenal scoring a couple of early tries which helped his side head into half time with a narrow lead.
But Woolwich Arsenal came back after the break and levelled the game up quickly with some exciting attacking play of their own, including a couple of stylish conversions from Jack Daniel.
From there, the game was end to end with Royal Arsenal managing to pull off a couple of desperate goal line defensive stands and countering well to put more points on the board.
The decisive moment in the game came when Royal Arsenal finished off a slick passing move to Zarine on the wing who darted in for the score and put the game out of reach.
It was a tight battle throughout though and both teams can be proud of their performances.
Man of the match went to George Sargent for a bustling performance in the centre of the pitch that acted as the spark for plenty of Royal Arsenal’s attacking moves.
Plenty of post match drinks were downed in the clubhouse afterwards as the whole club reflected on a season that provided plenty of ups and downs, but was always a lot of fun to be a part of.
