Royal Arsenal Rugby’s original Tag Zombie Run took place again in one of the UK’s splendid historic developments. Participants completed a daring 5K riverside run while being chased by blood-thirsty, running Zombies.
Saturday 26th October saw the latest in our series of 5k fun-runs on the Arsenal, the Halloween Zombie fun-run.
Registration for the event was at an all time high registering for the event. Unfortunately, the weather intervened, with an evening which reminded me of a wet weekend in Glasgow, and turnout didn’t match the numbers registered. At one point it looked like we might have more organisers than runners, but a late flurry saw a great turn out of dedicated fun runners head off on the now familiar route twice around the historic Royal Arsenal development.
Despite the weather it was a fun event with both participants and marshals sporting their zombie finest. Competitors ranged from those of an older vintage to a baby in a pram. Hats off to mum and baby who completed the run.
The winner was Daniel Brown who finished in a time of 22 mins 46 sec. Second was Anne Maya in a time of 24′ 10″, no mean feat as this was on the back of 2 tag rugby games for the Royal Arsenal tag rugby team earlier in the day.
Prizes were handed out in the Guardhouse including a prize for the best Zombie costume(Julie Brown). A huge well done to everyone who participated and a big thanks for turning out on an evening better suited to the indoors. The run was followed by a social event. This involved a trip on the clipper to Embankment with everyone in fancy dress, followed by a night of mayhem in Salsa nightclub right beside Embankment pier.
Love to tell you about it but what happens in Salsa stays in Salsa………
