Why do we play Tag Rugby? For some it’s a challenge to learn and develop skills, for others it’s about keeping fit; but for most of us I suspect it’s a little of all of the above with a sense of community and camaraderie thrown in for good measure… Never was this community spirit more evident than when the Home-Start charity visited the Royal Arsenal as guests to our ‘6 Nations Blitz’ presentation night.
As a result of all the generous donations received from the Blitz auction, we were able to present Home-Start (local charity)a £1,000 donation toward the valuable services and support they provide within our community. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Home-Start, it is one of the leading family support charities in the UK. Their volunteers help families with young children deal with the challenges that they may face including both mental and physical health issues. Last year the charity supported 70,000 children in 33,000 families, in 280 communities across the UK.
As a club, we should be proud to support these vital projects in our local community and as such, we will continue the challenge to raise even more over the coming year alongside our other regular games and events – Any suggestions of ways to do so are always welcome…
